Word has it that a local audition will be held in September (the season starts in August!) and pending the local audition, a national audition will be held.
I held the job for 18 years and decided to resign to pursue other musical ventures.
I believe, depending on experience I have with the orchestra, that no audition will actually be held. The person who has been subbing, when I took a day off, will be the "winner" of the local audition no matter who auditions.
My advice to those of you interested in this job---spend your time on better jobs!!!
