Is this Zack Spellman, tubist for the S.F. Opera? If so, why the alias? If not, what a coincidence.

Anyway, I'll add this much: Over the last 25 years, I've heard Floyd Cooley play in the S.F. Symphony on many different tubas. Needless to say, he sounded great on any and all of them. I highly recommend his CD, "the romantic tuba" on Crystal Records. Not only does he sound wonderful on his old Gronitz F, but all four works on the album are really good pieces of music. I wish he could have recorded the Vaughan-Williams concerto back when he performed it with Ozawa in the late 1970's. That was before we had Davies Symphony Hall, and the S.F.S.O. were still playing in the Opera House.
