I don't have any trouble mashing the buttons, its just that I sometimes mash them in the wrong order. ;^)
The worst ledger lines that I've come across are in that old Sear Tuba Duets - book 1... The notes are too close together and the ledgers touch each other, making the point of reference - the staff - blur into all of the ledger lines... ' perhaps better to "8va basso" passages such as that.
