It really doesn't matter. Which ever you like the sound and fingerings with. If you get an F tuba, doens't mean you'll go higher. There are some F's out there that are really good that should consider as well as Eb tubas. But I would get a horn that compliments your CC tuba. For example, Chuck Koontz has a 5/4 CC tuba and his F tuba is the big Yamaha 822. I have a PT-3 as my CC (compact 4/4) and for an F tuba, I would want something smaller and much more lighter sounding.
If you play on a decent size 4/4 size tuba and buy the YFB-822 or a Wilson Eb, then that would be redundant in a way of the sound because they're both big horns with big sounds. Where as Chuck's tuba settings are good.
