I would consider what your school has to offer to play, and if it has good tubas, even in BBb, I'd consider using the BBb at school, keep the pristine horn that way, and enjoy practicing it at home and taking it to performances. That way, your personal horn is still in wonderful condition when you go to college. Then again, you could use it at school daily, and be more experienced on CC. Even if it gets damaged, Joe S. or I can always fix it for you!
Just a small note about sousaphones and marching band- yes, I've seen bad scenes happen, but just because you go outside with an open-wrap tuba doesn't mean that you can't still play with proper techniques. Besides, who would want to miss chatting with the cute flag line?
