Actually, the army did some interesting research during the 50's and 60's regarding prolonged exposure to high-intensity infrasonic waves. Irritability, stress and vomiting were among symptoms documented.
There are rumors that the Russians are doing field experiments with this technology in Chechnya.
But I've yet to hear of a tuba player sending nauseated audience members fleeing for the restrooms...
