Actually, I have never had anything done to my tuba in the last 20 years (stock Mirafone 186 CC 5U), except having the first valve slide "over-lapped" and had the new gold-tone US dollar coins (Sakawageea sp?) soldered on valves spatulas 1-4 (looks great, but feels even better!).

Oh, I also had the leadpipe replaced (due to red-rot) with a 188 leadpipe.

My recent interest in "gadgets" is related only to the Monsterweights, due mainly to the fact that I will be unable to afford a new tuba (I really want a Conn 56J one day!) for several more years and I would like to give my horn a little more "bottom" in the meantime.

I have recently switched to a PT88-MEGA mouthpiece which has helped TREMENDOUSLY. But for a relatively inexpensive modification, I thought the Monsterweights might also be worth a try. They can always be taken off and re-sold, and besides I think there is a 30-day trial period.
