You are a right about the stickiness (?) of hot-glue. I wonder if attaching the weight in that manner somehow lessens the effects of the weight. If so, then I would definitely want to attach them more permenantly. Yeah, I'd probably pay a repairman to do it. I can just me turning my valve cap into a paper-weight with a soldering torch.
