I am a nudist, recreatonally, and also a tubist. Since I own a York bell front that was of some interest to Vince Simonetti, he arranged to meet me one day at a nudist resort where we had a trailer set up and play duets so he could see how close his York bell front was to mine. I met him at the gate and and escorted him to our trailer and deck and we spent two hours playing duets and trading horns back and forth. The one thing I have learned as a nudist is that you can play a tuba while unclothed but it is not comfortable, much as frying bacon or trimming hedges in the buff is not comfortable. For Vince's visit, I was clothed but the entire resort listened to our dueting and applauded heartily, albeit, sans garments of any kind. I have heard this tuba legend related by people who don't know I was involved. They think it is a fabrication. It isn't.
