Also, don't sit and play watching a tuner. Have the tuner there when practicing, but practice playing a note where it sounds in tune to you, then check out the tuner. If you watch the tuner you will be adjusting to match the tuner, rather than listening. It is important to develop your ear to the point where you can play a note and know without looking at the tuner where it will fall.
