YES YES YES: Steve C. and I REALLY REALLY REALLY put ourselves up as dumb/smart-asses trying to write authoritatively about alto instruments and appearing to contradict an experienced professional, but those 6-foot-long/7-foot-long F/Eb alto instruments play ruinously bad with (true) horn mouthpieces with adapters and SOME of the (short) alto instruments are MARVELOUS instruments with their proper mouthpieces in place...EVEN MARCHING MELLOPHONES are not as "horrible" as their reputation with their "correct" mouthpieces in use, rather than adapted horn mouthpieces.
