You really can't generalize about this. Endurance will be best when the rim is comfortable AND the rest of the mouthpiece's characteristics fit the horn. Some people find a flat sharp-edged rim quite comfortable and beneficial while others can't stand it. A rim that is too wide for your face between your nose & chin will cause endurance to suffer no matter how comfortable it is, but someone with a larger face will have no problems with it. A rim that is too small OR too large inside (for you) will cause endurance to suffer. Always use a mouthpiece that has an outside diameter that fits easily between your nose & chin with room to spare, has an inside diameter that works for you, and contour that feels good to you. Everyone has a different face and dental structure, and the same rim may have very different effects on different players.
