I have a silent brass that I use daily also. I have the same problems with both my CC and my EEb. It's a great tool for working out technique without disturbing the neighbors, but it gets frustrating when you try to use it as something it isn't. It wasn't meant to be the same as playing without a mute, but it's great when used as what it is.
