Our band went on a tour of China a couple years ago. Be sure to have made prior arrangements with the customs service there (or whatever the appropriate agency is) with regards to bringing your instruments into the country. We were given a really hard time at the airport and it took us hours to get them to allow us to take out instruments. This even though our tour was organized by a Chinese cultural agency.
