While on a break from an orchestral rehearsal, I took my tuba out into the seating area of the auditorium and found a nice quiet corner to actually lay it down flat. Even when I was sitting there, a cellist walked by and drove her peg into my bell leaving a good sized dent... her reaction- "oops".
Also, while studying excerpts with a former teacher, I had my tuba laid across my lap to listen to him play. After he finished what he was trying to play, he proceeded to put his horn down except my tuba was in the way. His bell cracked into my bottom bow leaving a real nasty dent... A bass also did the same thing to me IN A CONCERT! 'Twang'
If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...
