You know the Conn "Naked Lady" engraving? Obviously you wouldn't want that exact thing, but a very well done engraving of your mother with flowers and pretty stuff would be a great tribute, and then it would still have a very "artist" look to it, as opposed to jsut names or something.
Yah, probably waaaayy expensive though, just a thought :-)
