Just like all of the other muscles and systems in your body, your "wind and Song" machine needs rest, too. As you have discovered, the time away from the horn can help dissolve some of the issues or cues that the horn gives. In essence, you can regain some "innocence" (if only that were really possible!!) I am curious how you will feel tomorrow. Will you be bogged down once again with a lack of motivation? If so, perhaps you need to redefine why you play. I play because I get paid. I am not cold enough to believe that that is my only motivation, but it adds a bit of pressure. I've strayed shamelessly from your point , though. Some time off is good, but not recommended in large amounts. Just ask the members of my brass band...they will tell you how I feel !!

Rest, yes, but practice much and love what you do!!!
