I can only tell you what I've heard about the tubas.An Oklahoma tuba workshop had two players in perticular. One had a Nirschl a nd the other a Yorkbrunner. The Nirschl owner leaned over to the guy and said, "man, I want one of those". Then, this guy who sat next to me in community band dealt what I consider to be the ultimate blow to the brunner when he told me that Pokorny had told him how much he hated his Yorkbrunner. I would reccomend that you talk to Floyd Cooley about the Nirschl (or just find a way to get in touch with Walter). He's sorta the poster-boy for the horn.
