People can shop around and get some good deals. One vendor may charge $11,000 for the same horn selling for $8500 at a different vendor. I am talking about the exact same model.

As a consumer I could usually care less for the financial "hardships" of the shop "needing" to add an additional markup of $2500. I go with whoever gives me the best deal.

If the prices are fairly close, say within $300, I will probably go with whoever I trust and respect the most, even if the price is a "little" higher.

I can understand a markup to cover expenses and make a handsome profit, but some businesses just get greedy, IMO.

I am not naming names and this practice is not isolated to tubas.
