A poor recording is a poor recording, regardless of how much effort put into it. I can't comment on this particular recording, as I haven't yet heard it in it's entirety, but I have purchased-and-been-disappointed-with other tuba recordings in the past. Does this mean that I should refrain from telling others about my disappointment because "artist-X worked so hard to put this CD together"? Am I also disqualified from criticizing a CD because I haven't recorded a similar CD myself? I'd love to see the thought process of anyone answering "yes" to either of those questions.
People will have different opinions about every recording, based on different factors. Each person's opinion is as valid as the next person's.
