I have a slightly different situation. I have a large CC (HB-6), a Yamaha 822 F, and a Miraphone F. This gives me the options I am looking for when choosing appropriate instrumentation. I use the 822 much like many would use a small CC, and I use a mouthpiece (Bobo symphonic) that gives me the weight I'm looking for and it projects extremely well. Plus, the 822 is wonderful as a freelance horn because you can read anything that is put in front of you with confidence. I use the Miraphone as a true F tuba, on all of the high Berlioz (and similar) parts and most solos. The Hirsbrunner is used most of the time, but particularly when I am playing big works that need alot of presence. This is a similar setup to the one Norm Pearson uses in the LA Phil. Instead, he uses a Yamaha York, an 822 and a B&S F, but in a comparable fashion and with much success.
