Agreed, they could. However, the primary consideration by a "good" player will be in the sound, intonation, etc. and not what type valve is on the horn.
I discovered after buying a piston horn 2 years ago that I could move my fingers faster on the pistons, but that's my opinion. My F still has rotaries and they move plenty fast. The hand technique is different as I discovered. Keeps my mind active.
