Finale has education price, You can get if for $225 (PC version) at www.micromind.com. You may be able to find someone who will knock a few dollars off of that.
As for learning Finale...
It has a steep learning curve. DO NOT depend on the tutorials or the online user groups. They are too remote and take too long. Find someone who knows Finale and spend an afternoon or two with them. If you are the slightest bit intuitive, you'll take off like a rocket after that.
I worked through the tutorials for three frustrating months when an experienced used told me to stop and start by using Speedy Note Entry to write scales as a first step. Try that if it sounds like a thing you can do. I've enjoyed and used Finale for 5 years and have made a nice second income with it.
