It seems to make sense that an "eyebath" shaped rim would cause some restriction. But what about an "oval" mouthpiece that when laid on a table on its rim would have no space between the rim and the table? Such a mouthpiece could feasibly be "swiveled" on the lips according to the needs of the player (not during notes though!). Marc
