I concur totally. I also have a 30's York, to which I had a leadpipe 5th added. Sometime later I concluded this was kind of like Invasion of the Body Snatchers. It looked like my York, but IT WASN'T. So I was fortunate to have Matt Wolters to remove it, replace the one-piece leadpipe, and install a new 5th in the dog-leg. Aside from the advantages of a good, well-placed 5th valve, the whole horn is improved, there is no sacrifice of anything, only gain of everything. So by all means go for it. This assumes that either you, or whoever is going to do the work is a really first-rate technician, of course.
