I haven't played the Fafner, but I've had some time with both the Willson and the Miraphone, though not side by side.

The Willson is competent in every way. I don't much like the ergonomics--the first-valve slide is almost impossible to reach and I could not find a useful place for my left hand. I also did not connect with the instrument.

The Miraphone takes more air to get the same sound, and I think it requires more air than I can give it. But it provided more feedback to the player, which is I think partly owing to its short, compact wrap. While I think I could get used to the disconnectedness of the Willson, I'm not sure I'd ever have the air to do the Miraphone justice.

One of these days, I'll try out a Fafner, but I'm scared to do it without a healthy tuba fund which is lacking at the moment.
