40 years ago when I played tuba in high school we had hand me down tubas from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. We had both BBb and Eb Sousaphones and uprights. The BBb uprights were much larger than the Eb tubas. I agree with Rick that you probably played BBb tubas. If you can remember fingering the B flats as open then you were playing a BBb tuba. If the E flats were played with open valves then you were playing Eb tubas. The Eb on the first line below the base clef staff is played with the first valve down on the BBb tuba and open on the Eb tuba. Have fun.
