I have not played the two or so Rudolf Meinl 1/2 CC's that Custom Music once had, but I have played one at the factory. I did not find it to be "stuffy", a term which normally really irritates me. The instrument, played with the right sort of mouthpiece, plays and responds reasonably well. Just remember that you can't readily move 70 liters of air through an instrument with a euphonium-size bore. Just like the enormous instruments, really small instruments (smaller than a Mirafone 184) are specialty instruments, too, not a mainstream, all-purpose instrument. The 1/2 size Rudolf Meinl instrument would be about the right size for my 11-year old daughters, but it was a lot cheaper to put them on cornets for now ;^)
