It is easy.

One way to think about slide positions is to use the following formula, if you read bass clef:

valves = slide position

open = 1
2 = 2
1 = 3
1,2 = 4
2,3 = 5
1,3 = 6
1,2,3 = 7

If 4 valves and trigger are considered:

4 = 6/1t
2,4 = 7/2t
1,3 = 3t

Remembering that the slide positions grow farther apart in the lower range in order to be in tune. A true 2t is about 2 1/4, and 3t will be about 3 1/2.

You will have to adapt to a different sound concept, as trombone is meant to be a little more brash/not as mellow.

Have fun.
