Dear List:

Last night I returned from South Bend, Indiana, where I purchased a tuba from fellow tubist and new friend Sean Downey. We had corresponded, agreed on a price, and I decided to drive the 750 mile round trip to SB. Sean met me, accompanied me to Notre Dame's excellent music facility, where the tuba was already cleaned, polished, and tuned awaiting my audition time with it. The horn was exactly as presented, played very well, and our deal was concluded. He, moreover, selflessly drove me on a nickel tour of Notre Dame, explaining the campus to me, introduced me to the Director of Bands, and went out of his way to make my experience a great one! Thanks, Sean, for your kindness--I'll take good care of her.
