It's interesting that Geib's compositions ("Chaconne" comes to mind) are notable for their atempt to "throw off" the "Asleep in the Deep" type of thing that pervaded most published tuba solos for years. He must have been a musician of the first order. Sorry I missed him.
I broke in the NYC scene in the 1960s when some of the old timers were still around. I'm sure those autographs are fascinating. Hang onto them.
Imagine paying $.35 for admission to Radio City and hearing Staigers stand up in the pit orchestra and "knock off" the Carnival of Venice! And he did it five times a day!
