Personally, I think it's a good idea to "try something new". It can be a reall kick in the seat to see what you COULD be doing, and then work to make sure you never have to...

During the summers of college
1) Cleaned Barns
2) Worked on a natural gas pipeline from Canada through North Dakota into Minnesota
3) Mac and Don's Supper Club
4) Joined the Navy Reserve (as a Boatswain's Mate...could I have BEEN any farther from a musician...) two weeks a summer in sunny San Diego WOOHOO!!!
5) Switched to an Army Reserve Band near the university I was attending.
6) Taught Tae Kwon Do

After,
1) ate lots of mustard sandwiches in chicago doing anything and everything (and I mean ANTYHING-from Crab Shacks to Nursing homes) possible to have the horn on my face.

2) went to Shanghai and found a sinking ship (jacomo, baby, you were right!!!!), but it led me to Beijing which is an absolute dream come true.... two words: Thai Massage
