Wow. Whatch out before anybody cuts into you, whatever the reason. If you are a proffesional player, think about the consiquences. If they cot just a little bit too far, the might make it impossable to ever cut off the air floww through your nose. In other words, you'd leak when you play.
I myself have Apnea, and as a proffesional player did not hesitate to get second and third opinions. The CPAP does alot if your girlfriend likes sleeping with the elephant man with a Darth Vader wheeze the whole night. I use what they call a MAD, which is VERY simple. Its basically like braces for the upper and lower teeth holding your mouth completely closed with a very minimal protrusion of the lower jaw. Its a rather new technique, but what it comes down to is that by protruding the jaw even very slightly (and I mean slightly) it apperantly stretches the palate just enough to keep it from closing at night. This also redused my snoring, even though this wasn't my main objective.
Whatever you do, go to a specialist and don't accept an operation unless there are NO alternatives.
Good luck
