I wondered the same thing. Granted, I'm only going into my freshman year of college, so I figured a lot of it was just being inexperienced. My thoughts are, though, that a CC is good for most anything, even solo work for the most part. I do want to invest in an F at some point, but I definitely want it to be a distinct sound from my CC. I've always been confused when players make sure to play certain pieces on F, like the Symphony Fantastique, and then their F sounds like a CC. I play it on my CC, and it lies just fine. When I do get an F, I'm going to look for something with a sound that is much lighter than my CC. I'm not going to spend more money for the same end.
