Didn't mean to be harsh. One of the finest instruments I ever had a chance to play was an HB-6 CC. It had the quirk you mentioned, otherwise it was a fantastic instrument. I always wished I had bought it instead of the Kurath 5/4 I got at Custom about 13 years ago. The HB-6 was cheaper, too (the dumb things we do, right?). I played several Hirsbrunners while I was there, and I took notes on all the horns I played. Most of the Hirsbrunners did have small quirks, including the one you mentioned. One HB-2P was awful, even with several different MP's. Maybe that's the way they are.
