I have yet to be disappointed with a tuba I purchased, new or used. I used a warranty once, but you still don't get off scott-free because of transportation charges and that sort of stuff. If I was going to make a living with the tuba, I would buy what I WANTED the first time and spare no expense. If it's a hobby, I'm sure you can find something in the used arena for less $$ - OR BUY A NEW ONE! hahahahahaha....I once had a salesman tell me that if money wasn't an issue, buy new! Everyone has some pretty good points about warranties and such. Bottom line is...decide what you want and get what you want the first time. Otherwise, if you settle for less than you really wanted, you won't be happy with the horn - even if it does laundry! Lots of luck, Steve, and have a GREAT day!
