Be on the lookout for an upgrade kit for the Cervany "piggy" coming soon. Apparently, Brasswind has convinced Cervany to offer a kit that allows "piggy" owners to add a 5th valve to 4 valve models. Contact Charlie Krause at Brasswind for more details. I had a student in this same situation and this seemed like the best option.
I think that a 5 valve instrument is better than a 4 valve instrument, all other things being equal. Honestly, I'd rather be looking at a VMI 3302 (which has 5 valves) than the 3301 so if you can get the Cervany with 5 valves, I think it gets the nod. Of course, what really matters is how they play for you!
