Don Butterfield plays a 1915 King three piston valve upright dubbed "Old Deuteronomy". Actually, at some point along the way he had a fourth (rotary) valve installed in the third valve tubing, to help with intonation waaaaaaaaaaay below the staff. Those who have heard him play that horn listen with quiet amusement to discussions among the "at least four valves" types. He says, "Don't play the tuba, play music on the tuba."
