Unless you have some special appreciation for historical integrity, just change the receiver on the instrument. It is a simple process if you can use a torch. Get a receiver to fit the contemporary tuba mouthpieces from Strege-Wuttke, Inc. in Elkhorn Wiconsin (about $3.00).
