Hello Mr. Jordan,
I think that you just brought up a very interesting question. I have thought about this question myself and my conclusion is one of the reasons why I've decided not to major in tuba performance (at the moment).
Right now I play the tuba for fun in school. I don't like it if I screw up, in fact I hate it. But I can get over any mistakes because I'm just playing because I have a passion for playing.
If, however, playing the tuba well becomes what determines wheter I have a roof to live under then I'll most likely lose that passion and it will have become an obligation. But that passion for playing is the only thing that keeps me going on those days when it's really slow and things are just crashing and burning.
To answer your question, no, I would not enjoy playing for money becasue every mistake just means so much more and that takes all the fun out of it.

Thanks,
Fei Huang
