Being a high school band director as well as a tuba player I would reccommend several tubas depending on the money you want to spend.

In the higher priced range I have found the B&S Perantucci PT-1 to be the best BBflat on the market followed by the Yammaha 646. These horns are large and very good for the advanced to intermediate players. There durability is very good as well which is one thing you need to look for.

In the lower price range I believe you can't go wrong with the Cerveny 693. This is a great horn and very durable. If you are set on piston valves then I would reccommend the Yammaha YBB 341 or 431??? not sure about the number(which evere one is the 4 valve)
