Now that is a good question Brian. Would Jacobs have made such an impact on the brass world if he would have stuck with the trumpet? One would really have to wonder with guys like Adolph Herseth around. My answer would have to be yes, because of all he did for wind players period. It would have been real interesting to have heard Mr. Herseth and Mr. Jacobs playing trumpet during the same time frame. They are both such world class musicians. With Mr. Jacobs always stating to trumpet players to "play it like Bud would"(as you stated in your book) do you think he would done the same?
By the way speaking of Bud. Does anyone know what is going with his position in the CSO? Have they decided on a co-principal player yet? Or has Bud given the word like Mr. Jacobs did that it is time to go?
