Several recent postings mentioned the Radio Shack PZM microphone as an excellent choice for tuba. I remember when the Shack first started carrying them about 15 years ago, and many good things were also said about them back then.
Today, I went down to my local store and wanted to check one out. I was referred to a salesman who knew what he was talking about (at Radio Shack, no less!) and he told me they don't make them anymore. He was a musician, elec. guitar mostly, and uses SEVEN of them placed around the stage floor for recording with his band. He told me that they came out with a new design within the last year, and that this model has an even better frequency response than the old PZM. The only drawback was that this one must be flat on the floor or on a shelf, you can't hang it up on a wall.

Has anyone tried this new model yet? If I can ever get the cash to test one, I will be sure to let you know.
