Jobey points out something you guys might wanna pay attention to,
the style of air delivery necessary on a bitty-f to play low
is the samer style you need for the big american and american (read "york-type")
tubas. You HAVE to relax to play low, if you grew up on Mirafone-type
tubas...or u.s.-built conns and the like, this takes a lot of getting used to
(believe me, I know.) And here in the bay area, the only thing I had going for
me for a long time was being able to be good low....now I have to re-learn that
with the big piston brass I have now.
Point? Most student-type people shopping for an f should leave Jobey alone, and get something like a yamaslammer. Most of the pros play them. Those who feel "in the know"
go for things like Jobey's f. But honestly, if YOU "don't know"...then you probably wouldn't be happy with it.
