You don't say how old your son is, but the 'fast=good' notion will likely pass. In our culture (even more now than when I was a pup) it is easy to arrive at this conclusion. Give him time, though, and expose him to history. When we begin to understand that the world got along just fine before our own generation and its enlightened break-neck pace, that is when this lesson seems to hit home. I remember trying to explain to my Dad how the 'new' instruments in the 70's were far superior to those old horns made a generation earlier. What a dope I was!! And how wise my Dad was.
