Try the polygonal (?) that is - non circular springs from Ferree's. When I got my Conn 26K, the valve springs were a mixed bag, so I sprung for (sorry) the Ferree's spring. You get one long spring for about $9 (if memory serves). Then you take off the bottom cap, depress the piston in the cylinder, and stuff the spring into the bottom hole until it won't go any more. Mark the turn sticking out above the cylinder, then cut it two turns down. They recommend you file or gring the end of the spring flat so it wont catch or wear. Repeat as needed. I must say that I very much like the valve action with these springs. As always: YMMV

Good luck
