I tried this with an older Besson euphonium with the European receiver and it didn't work very well. The larger receiver didn't quite match the end of the leadpipe so there was a gap that had to be filled with solder. On the inside, the end of the leadpipe didn't fit flush with the receiver which created some response problems and made the intonation even even worse before (the old Bessons are notorious for their intonation quirks).

Perhaps one of the repair gurus who frequent this forum will have a solution. It seems to me that in order to do this modification with any degree of success you need to have a cusom leadpipe made, or to somehow have the orginal leadpipe altered to accept the new receiver. Either solution can be a crap shoot.
