Bore has little to do with anything. Arnold Jacobs' 6/4 York has a 0.750" bore; a 4/4 Miraphone 186 has an 0.770" bore. That York "monster" Eb has a bore of only 0.655"; smaller than a little 3/4 Besson 777 with a bore of 0.689.
A more interesting question to me is: what does bore size do for an instrument?
