"5/4" requires that one puff out his or her (??) chest when announcing ownership, whereas "4/4" is an apologetic description which one admits to only when cocking their head sideways in an "oh well" gesture (much like the one the professional basketball player utilized in the taco commercial on network television).

A "MONSTER" tuba is one that has been built with a King "Cleveland" bell, a Reynolds (apologetically) 4/4 wrap, a Conn valveset, new German slide tubing, and a salvaged rotor assembly off of a trashed school-owned Mirafone 186 made in 1968. (Incidentally, the rotor must NEVER be connected to any linkage, and the explanation for this must be that one "has not yet decided" on just which linkage option to utilize.)

"MONSTER"s are similar to "FRANKENSTEIN"s. However, the "FRANKENSTEIN" is a copyrighted and patented tuba, which is only available in the 7/4 size and typically has two screws which hold the bell in place. (The new late-to-be-released Milano/Millenium model will be a 7/3 size, I hear.)

Regardless of what anyone else might have said below, you can count on this to be the most accurate explanation, and you are certainly welcome for the time that I have invested clarifying all of this for you.
