I'll be in the market for a tuba in the very near future, And I'm not really sure about some things. I've just completed my first year of college, and I've learned a great deal of info about the tuba and some quirks about playing it that I was just completely unaware of in high school. In purchasing one, I realize that I need to try as many horns as possible, and find the one that works for me. But there is one thing that I'm not really sure about. In playing the tuba, you try to reproduce the sound in your head to the best of your ability. But what kind of sound should I be looking for? Should I be looking for more of a german type sound, with a lot of core and some presence, or more of the american sound, with more of a presence. I may have this confused a bit, and if so, please correct me. But knowing this would help tremendously in searching for a horn, and getting the sound I should be getting. Thanks a lot in advance.
